Comparing amounts

In maths today the year 1 children explored the concept of most and least by comparing groups of objects. They had to guess which pot contained the most and least then counted them to check. They even found that some had the same amount.

They enjoyed comparing the amounts and were experts at using the correct vocabulary by the end of the lesson!

Time!

Since the start of term the children have been learning all about time. This week the children have been looking at seconds and minutes.

They have been looking at online and egg timers and stop watches. They have been completing timer activities, such as star jumps, bounces on a space hopper and throwing quoits in a hoop. They have predicted how many they think they can do in a minute, 30 seconds or 15 seconds.
