Norwich Castle

On Thursday 24th May Hedgehogs and Woodpeckers set off in search off Norwich Castle.

We were amazed by how big the castle looked on top of the hill.

'It is very big'. Bella

'Humongous' Max B

'It is made of really big stone'. Jasmine

'Look at the thin arrow slits they can fire arrows out to kill all the bad people'.

'Does the Queen still live here?' Enzo

We walked over the bridge and went inside to explore!!

The castle has organised 3 activities for us to partake in.

1, We made flags for a jousting competition to support our favourite knight. We had to ensure both sides were identical so the knights recognised their colours.

2, Helping the house keeper to sort different artifacts that knights and people from the castle had left laying around. We had to guess what each thing was used for and sort into knight or castle.

Max thought it might be for chopping wood.

Chloe could hang the put from the special hanger and we were shown how to move it up away from the flames to cool the food down.

Jasmine was correct she had found a type if cup but was shocked it was made from a bulls horn.

Can you identify the knight under the helmet?!

The candle stick was very clever.

3, We were taken on a tour of the keep by the tired orphan Maud. She explained what life would have been like in the castle from smalls to beds, she told us how the toilets worked and how candles were made.

We took advantage of the sunshine and had a picnic on the castle grounds before returning to the castle for a quick tour.

We had a wonderful day. Thank you to everyone who came to help.
